Softball Recap: Tahquitz Has No Trouble Against Heritage

After losing to Heritage the last time they met, Tahquitz decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Titans blew past the Patriots 12-2 on Monday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Lillian Phelps spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Tahquitz let Reyna Garcia and Megan Brown run wild. Garcia got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Brown went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Garcia has posted since back in April of 2024. Jade Reyes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tahquitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only managed eight hits.

Tahquitz moved to 7-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Tahquitz will take on West Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.45 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Heritage, they will challenge Hillcrest at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
