Softball Recap: Pell City Comes Up Short

Pell City fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hewitt-Trussville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Friday.

Pell City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Briley Goodgame, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Goodgame has posted since back in February. Another was Kensley Evans, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Pell City's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Hewitt-Trussville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Pell City Panthers take on White Plains Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. White Plains' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Pell City's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hewitt-Trussville, they will face off against Hartselle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
