Community Christian extends road winning streak to three

Recap: Community Christian Warriors vs. Covington Owls

The Community Christian Warriors entered their tilt with the Covington Owls with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Community Christian came out on top against Covington by a score of 51-41 on Thursday. Given Community Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Covington is ranked 777th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Community Christian to victory were Price Horton and Jonathan Blackburn. Horton scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 steals, while Blackburn dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was Horton's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Maness, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.

Community Christian has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Covington, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Community Christian will square off against Avalon at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Avalon is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Covington, they will be playing at home against Three Way at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
