Soccer Game Preview: Northside Christian Academy vs. Hammond

The Northside Christian Academy Crusaders are taking a road trip to challenge the Hammond Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northside Christian Academy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Northside Christian Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Cardinal Newman on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1.

Northside Christian Academy's goal came courtesy of Kelsey Wiggins, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Hammond's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Ben Lippen 4-3. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Skyhawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Falcons are ranked third).

The win made it two in a row for Hammond and bumps their season record up to 2-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those two contests. As for Northside Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Northside Christian Academy suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Hammond in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Can Northside Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
