Basketball Game Preview: Granville Central Panthers vs. South Granville Vikings

Granville Central hasn't had much luck against South Granville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Granville Central Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the South Granville Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

Granville Central is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Saturday. They were dealt a 90-48 defeat at the hands of Carrboro.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Granville). They really took it to Granville Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 93-47 win. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 29 points or more this season.

Granville Central better keep an eye on Mason Brown. He was instrumental in South Granville's win, dropping a double-double with 31 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Brown also posted three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. KJ Terry was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten assists.

South Granville was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

South Granville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.1 points over those games. As for Granville Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.

Granville Central was taken down by South Granville 93-47 in their previous matchup on Friday. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Granville Central was down 52-28.
