The Randolph Ghosts will square off against the U-32 Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
U-32 will be up against a hot Randolph squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Ghosts' way against Peoples Academy on Saturday as they made off with a 22-6 victory. The Ghosts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ella Messier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lillian Small was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Jenny Ciampi was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Randolph was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for U-32, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on North Country Union with a sharp 23-11 win on Saturday.
Grace Noyes and Mya Gould did most of the damage at the plate: Noyes got on base in all six of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI, while Gould got on base in three of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Elena Noyes, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
U-32's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Randolph, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Randolph hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .426. However, it's not like U-32 struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Randolph couldn't quite get it done against U-32 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Ghosts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
