Softball Game Preview: Fordland Eagles vs. Spokane Owls

The Fordland Eagles will head out to challenge the Spokane Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fordland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Spokane will come in with three straight victories.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Fordland and Seymour, and Seymour kept the tradition alive. The Eagles fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday.

While Spokane didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Verona with a sharp 15-5 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Karsyn Schrock made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Myla Farmer, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Callie Terrell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Spokane's record is now 7-4. As for Fordland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Everything went Fordland's way against Spokane in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Fordland made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
