Baseball Game Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Bingham Miners

For the second straight game, Corner Canyon will face off against Bingham. The Chargers will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Miners at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Corner Canyon 4.1, Bingham 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Corner Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bingham, who was ranked seventh at the time (Corner Canyon was ranked 25th). The Chargers fell just short of the Miners by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

Jacob Troast spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Corner Canyon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Whatcott, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win was the fourth in a row for Bingham, bringing their record up to 13-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Corner Canyon, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.
