Soccer Game Preview: Polk County vs. R-S Central

The Polk County Wolverines will head out to square off against the R-S Central Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Polk County's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three games.

Polk County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over Chase. Reeve Carroll was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, R-S Central came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against East Rutherford on Tuesday, sneaking past 1-0.

R-S Central was without their leading scorer, Olive Gosnell, in Tuesday's game. With Gosnell sidelined, Reigh Duncan got her first action of the season. Duncan made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

R-S Central's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5-1. As for Polk County, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything went Polk County's way against R-S Central when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Polk County made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Polk County since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
