Softball Recap: Scott City's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

While Scott City's victory against Valle Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Warriors 7-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Reese Carter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Carter was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Scott City let Summer Wagner and Halle Comer run wild. Wagner went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Comer went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Watson, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Scott City's record is now 5-18. As for Valle Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scott City will host Holcomb at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.64 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Valle Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Potosi at 4:30 p.m.
