Rolling Meadows hasn't had much luck against Palatine recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Pirates at 4:45 p.m. Rolling Meadows is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Rolling Meadows will bounce into Friday's game after beating Buffalo Grove, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs blew past the Bison 14-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryan Schneider and Tony Romanacce did most of the damage at the plate: Schneider got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Romanacce went 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Schneider has posted since back in March. Callum Paisley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Palatine, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Barrington 9-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Carter Monroe was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Adrian Santamaria also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Palatine is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Rolling Meadows, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
Rolling Meadows skirted past Palatine 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
