Soccer Game Preview: Garner vs. Corinth Holders

The Garner Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Corinth Holders Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Garner took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Southeast Raleigh a 9-0 shutout. It was an even better day for Lily Ridge as she scored five goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Corinth Holders beat Clayton 2-0 on Monday. Corinth Holders haven't had any issues with Clayton recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Corinth Holders pushed their record up to 9-5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Garner, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Garner might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Corinth Holders in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
