Volleyball Recap: Wiregrass Takes a Loss

If Wiregrass was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Southern Christian on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kings lost 3-0 to the Marianna Bulldogs on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in August.

While Wiregrass ultimately came up short, they really made Marianna work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-19, 25-18.

Avery Wilson paced Wiregrass' offense, picking up 16 kills. Wilson got some help from Ellie Alford and her 22 assists. Avery Barnes controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Wiregrass' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Marianna, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Wiregrass does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marianna, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Cottondale on the 7th.
