Football Recap: Maypearl Comes Up Short

Maypearl scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They and the Troy Trojans were almost perfectly matched up, but the Panthers suffered a 46-45 loss. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Jayden Lucky had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 168 yards and four scores, while also picking up 50 receiving yards and one touchdown for Troy. That's the most rushing touchdowns Lucky has posted since back in October of 2024.

Maypearl now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Troy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Maypearl and West will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Troy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. The Trojans will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
