Baseball Game Preview: Wynford Royals vs. Calvert Senecas

The Wynford Royals will head out on the road to square off against the Calvert Senecas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Wynford came up short against Colonel Crawford and fell 6-1. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wynford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Calvert waltzed into their contest on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Crimson Streaks as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Senecas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Charlie Palm made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Calvert's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Wynford, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Wynford skirted past Calvert 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
