Football Recap: North Pontotoc Piles Up the Points Against Alcorn Central

North Pontotoc put their dominant defense on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They really took it to the Alcorn Central Bears for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-0 victory. Fans of the Vikings have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Drew Winfun went supernova, throwing for 261 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Those 261 passing yards gave him a new career-high. 94 of Winfun's passing yards were hauled in by Dee Slaughter, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

North Pontotoc's run defense was locked in: Alcorn Central could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Luke Hale for the heroic effort on defense: he. North Pontotoc didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.6.

North Pontotoc didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hale and Khylun Jones. Hale is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.

North Pontotoc's record now sits at 3-0. As for Alcorn Central, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
