Top 20 most powerful high school softball teams

Louisiana's Notre Dame High School leads the way with big fly every 12 plate appearances on average.

If you take in a Notre Dame (Crowley, La.) high school softball game this spring, expect to see the long ball.

The Pioneers hit close to three home runs per game and average a big fly every 12 plate appearances. They've clubbed 81 homers this season, 13 short of their own national record — 94 set in 2021.

Corine Poncho leads the way with 29 for Notre Dame as the senior gone deep in 20 of 31 games for the 26-5 Pioneers. Teammate and LSU commit, Maci Bergeron has hit 15 to raise her career total to 79, eight away from the national record. The senior did this with a shortened 12-game season in 2020. Another LSU commit, Abigail Savoy, has 23 dingers for Notre Dame.

Bishop Kelly (Boise, Idaho) has 40 fewer home runs than Notre Dame, but the Knights also have 444 fewer at-bats. Because softball start and end dates vary across the country, the selections were based on how often a team hits a home run rather than total number of homers. We will update this list as the season progresses.

All teams on the list below are here because data was entered into MaxPreps. No team was considered if statistical information has not been uploaded and updated. In order to be on this list, a team had to have a minimum of 500 plate appearances.
