Baseball Recap: Sierra Vista Takes a Loss

Sierra Vista suffered their biggest loss since March 26, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 13-4 to the Azusa Aztecs. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Aztecs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sierra Vista saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jose Aguayo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sierra Vista has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Duarte and 8-2 Duarte (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for Azusa, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Sierra Vista will host Baldwin Park at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Azusa, they will head out to face off against Duarte at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
