Baseball Recap: Hackettstown Gets the Win

While Hackettstown's victory against Wallkill Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rangers 3-1. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aaron Wolderich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Lambo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Joey Rowinski, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hackettstown's record is now 7-2. As for Wallkill Valley, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-3.

Hackettstown and Wallkill Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Hackettstown will take on Dover at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (110 vs. 323). Meanwhile, Wallkill Valley (ranked 101st) will meet Kittatinny Regional (ranked 281st) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
