Preview: Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers vs. Jasper Eagles
Jefferson Independent Day is 6-1 against Jasper since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers will get right back to it and host the Jasper Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Jefferson Independent Day's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against Lockwood on Monday, falling 59-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Jefferson Independent Day has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: Jaxx Wisdom scored five points.
Meanwhile, Jasper came up short against Lockwood on Friday and fell 48-35. While losing is never fun, Jasper can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Lockwood is ranked 90th).
Jefferson Independent Day's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Jasper, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3.
Jefferson Independent Day beat Jasper 71-59 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Jefferson Independent Day repeat their success, or does Jasper have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
