Basketball Recap: DAYESUN COLLIER's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Denver East over Northfield

Denver East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northfield Nighthawks. The Angels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nighthawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Several Angels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DAYESUN COLLIER, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 20 points and three steals. MAURICE FULTCHER was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 14 points along with five boards and five steals.

It was another big night for Judah Michael, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds for Northfield. Northfield is 9-1 when Michael posts 20 or more points, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gyasi Hawthorne, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Denver East's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Northfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver East will face off against George Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in George Washington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups. As for Northfield, they will challenge Rangeview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rangeview will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something Northfield surely won't give up without a fight.
