Softball Recap: Aurora East Takes a Loss

Aurora East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They came up short against the Ridgewood Rebels, falling 20-5. That's two games in a row now that the Tomcats have lost by exactly 15 runs.

As for Ridgewood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games.

For Ridgewood's part, Julia Conte was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Conte a new career-high. Tessa Hanson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Aurora East will welcome Larkin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ridgewood, they will square off against West Aurora at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blackhawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Rebels surely won't give up without a fight.
