CORTEZ, Colo. -
Moffat County (Craig, Colo.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used 22 fourth quarter points to seal the 42-19 victory over
Montezuma-Cortez (Cortez, Colo.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Michael Samuelson in the first quarter, the Bulldogs led 20-0 at the half.
Moffat County saw its 20-point halftime lead fall to 14 entering the fourth.
Samuelson and
Bubba Ivers ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Panthers. Samuelson scored three touchdowns on the ground and Ivers added two as well.
Montezuma-Cortez's
Tallon Ralstin played well. The senior threw two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Craig school, which lost to Glenwood Springs last week, 35-18.
Montezuma-Cortez (1-7) will play a non-conference game against Kirtland Central next week, while Moffat County (4-4) will take on Battle Mountain in a 3A Western Slope game.
