Softball Recap: Bucksport Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Bucksport extended their winning streak to six on Wednesday, bumping them up to 6-3. They blew past the Ellsworth Eagles 14-1. The Golden Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Marina Keene made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alivia Shute was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Avery Robshaw, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Bucksport hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.

As for Ellsworth, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

On Ellsworth's side, Lily Alley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was Alley's first of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bucksport will venture away from home to square off against Narraguagus at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Bucks 3.8, the Knights 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Ellsworth, they will head out to challenge Mount Desert Island at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
