Basketball Recap: Parker-Tarrant Homeschool Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Muddy River Homeschool

Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool's tournament run continued when they took on Muddy River HomeSchool on Thursday. The Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool Warriors snuck past the Muddy River HomeSchool Counselors with a 64-60 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 167th in Texas, while the Counselors are ranked 43rd in Mississippi).

Toby Pike continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 30 points and 19 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 22 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Timothy Jones, who went 6-for-15 en route to 18 points and seven boards.

Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Muddy River HomeSchool's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Sanders, who almost dropped a triple-double with 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, and Luke Sanders, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 22 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sun Michael Williams, who posted 11 points.

Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.9 points over those games. Muddy River HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 24-2.

Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-49 defeat against Memphis Home Education Association on the 20th. As for Muddy River HomeSchool, they have also already played their next match, a 73-71 victory against San Marcos HomeSchool on the 20th.
