Baseball Game Preview: Daniel Boone Trailblazers vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

The Daniel Boone Trailblazers will take on the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Smoky Mountain took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Daniel Boone, who comes in off a win.

Daniel Boone was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Elizabethton on Thursday. The Trailblazers were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Fighting Cyclones. The Trailblazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

T J Leonard was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Leonard was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Stevens, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson McCurry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against David Crockett, falling 11-3.

Smoky Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Daniel Boone, their record is now 21-8-1.
