Preview: Churchill Chargers vs. Carlson Marauders
The Churchill Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Carlson Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Churchill was the victim of a rough 42-21 defeat at the hands of Plymouth. Churchill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Meanwhile, Carlson entered their tilt with Lincoln Park with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Carlson blew past Lincoln Park 45-13 at home. The result was nothing new for Carlson, who have now won six matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Izaiah Wright was his usual excellent self, rushing for 209 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Wright was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards.
Churchill's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Carlson, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
