Baseball Recap: New Glarus Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but New Glarus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Marshall Cardinals 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Glarner Knights: when they faced off against the Cardinals last Tuesday, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Nolan Julseth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Julseth was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Landon Stelter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

New Glarus pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Marshall, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Glarus will challenge Poynette at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Glarner Knights are facing the Pumas at the right time seeing as the Pumas are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Marshall, they will face off against Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
