Baseball Recap: Peotone Starts Season with Win Against Clifton Central

Peotone took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Clifton Central Comets 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tyler Leitelt was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Coming up, Peotone will challenge Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clifton Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
