The Barbe Buccaneers entered their tilt with the Sam Houston Broncos with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Barbe snuck past Sam Houston with a 47-42 victory on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Barbe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Sam Houston lost, one person who can't be blamed is Blaine Davey. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Harmon, who scored nine points.
Barbe's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Sam Houston, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.
Barbe will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Lafayette presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barbe in Louisiana (Lafayette is ranked 16th, while Barbe is ranked 106th). As for Sam Houston, they will be playing at home against Carencro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carencro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three contests.
