Basketball Recap: Sophie Chasteen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Brashier Middle College Charter

Greenville Tech Charter hadn't done well against Brashier Middle College Charter recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Greenville Tech Charter Warriors blew past the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal 47-26. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 33-24 back in January.

Greenville Tech Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Chasteen, who posted five points and nine steals. Chasteen has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alacyea Killingsworth, who scored 16 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Greenville Tech Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Greenville Tech Charter pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

As for Brashier Middle College Charter, they will take on Blacksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Blacksburg will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Brashier Middle College Charter surely won't give up without a fight.
