Baseball Recap: Montgomery Takes a Loss

Montgomery extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bonita Vista Barons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Barons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Wednesday.

Montgomery saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juanluis Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

As for Bonita Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On Bonita Vista's side, ANDRES CORDERO looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

On the hitting side, ADRIAN FIGUEROA and KENSEN JOHNSON did most of the damage at the plate: FIGUEROA went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while JOHNSON went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Bonita Vista is 4-2 when JOHNSON posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was TYLER MAULA, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Montgomery and Bonita Vista could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Aztecs will take on Eastlake at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (564 vs. 164). Meanwhile, Bonita Vista (ranked 438th) will meet San Ysidro (ranked 208th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
