Baseball Game Preview: Upper Darby Royals vs. Garnet Valley Jaguars

Upper Darby hasn't had much luck against Garnet Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Royals will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. Garnet Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Upper Darby, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Upper Darby turned things around against Ridley on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 7-5.

Pat Callahan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nate O'Donnell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Garnet Valley had taken Haverford down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Jaguars fell just short of the Fords by a score of 3-2.

Garnet Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan McGhee, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Garnet Valley's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Upper Darby, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-10.

Upper Darby might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Garnet Valley in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
