Baseball Game Preview: Penfield Patriots vs. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders

The Penfield Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Patriots fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Fairport a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted against the Red Raiders since May 17, 2022.

Adam Knight looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Penfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Natale, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute). They put the hurt on Solvay with a sharp 9-0 win on Tuesday.

Carson Mazur looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Giorgio Panepinto was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Everett Elia was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
