Basketball Game Preview: Orangefield Bobcats vs. Kountze Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Orangefield Bobcats face off against the Kountze Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Orangefield sitting on three straight wins and Kountze on 12.

Orangefield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 91-33 victory over Hardin. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Hornets are ranked 1434th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Kountze blew past Warren, posting a 100-25 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 25 points or more this season.

Orangefield better keep an eye on Zac Sells. He was instrumental in Kountze's win, almost dropping a triple-double on 12 points, nine assists, and nine steals. Sells is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed six or more in the last three games he's played.

Kountze's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.5 points. As for Orangefield, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Orangefield came up short against Kountze in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 62-53. Can Orangefield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
