Effingham came tearing into Monday's match with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Richland County Tigers by a score of 8-3. For the Hearts, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Mya Harvey and Maci Hayes did most of the damage at the plate: Harvey went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Hayes went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Kirk, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Effingham's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Richland County, they moved to 14-9 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Effingham will challenge Mt. Vernon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hearts 4, the Rams 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Richland County, they will face off against Mt. Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
