Baseball Recap: Crystal City Comes Up Short

Crystal City dropped their record down to 11-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Hondo Owls by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Javelinas couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Hondo, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Hondo's part, Kolby Gear was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Quintanilla, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Crystal City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-4 victory against Cotulla on the 14th. As for Hondo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-3 defeat against Lytle on the 14th.
