Basketball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin challenged Edgewood on Friday. The Wildcats had to suffer through a 68-35 loss at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 515th, while the Cougars are ranked 120th).

When it comes to explaining why Franklin lost, don't look at Kendol Roberts. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points and five boards. That was a full 40% of the Wildcats' points, marking the fourth time in a row Roberts has posted more than a third of the team's points. Tito Harrison was another key player, putting up nine points.

Franklin has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Edgewood, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-48 victory against Madison on the 7th. As for Edgewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-44 loss against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy on the 7th.
