Softball Recap: Heritage Hills Find Success

While Heritage Hills's victory against Hancock County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Hornets 8-7 on Friday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Mia Kiegel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Haley Fisher was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. Taylor Fisher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Heritage Hills' victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Hancock County, they moved to 11-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Heritage Hills will square off against Warren East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.7, the Raiders 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hancock County, they will take on Ohio County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
