Basketball Game Preview: Thomas Stone Cougars vs. Huntingtown Hurricanes

Thomas Stone hasn't had much luck against Huntingtown recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Thomas Stone Cougars will face off against the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m.

Last Monday, Thomas Stone was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Great Mills.

Meanwhile, Huntingtown put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 35-29 W over King's Christian Academy. The 35-point effort marked the Hurricanes' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Huntingtown's win came from a few key players Thomas Stone will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eva Powell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Graham, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.

Huntingtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Huntingtown pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Thomas Stone, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.
