Softball Recap: Tri-Township Tigers vs. Boone Grove Wolves

Tri-Township fell victim to Boone Grove and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Boone Grove Wolves. Tri-Township has not had much luck with Boone Grove recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

For Boone Grove's part, Mariah Atteberry made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Atteberry has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances. Atteberry was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI.

In other batting news, Maria Otero was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Emily Veschak was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Tri-Township now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Boone Grove, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Township will take on Morgan Township at 4:30 a.m. on Monday. As for Boone Grove, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Crown Point at 10:00 a.m. Boone Grove is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Crown Point a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
