Two dominant signal callers in Joe Fernandez and Julian Williams are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pebble Hills Spartans will face off against the Eastlake Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 958 yards in their previous games.
Pebble Hills was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Socorro on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Bulldogs 56-0. That looming 56-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.
Pebble Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Denson, who picked up 53 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Denson a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two). Another back making a difference was Kahlib Price, who rushed for 60 yards and one score on only six carries.
Pebble Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Socorro only rushed for 115.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pebble Hills' defense and their five sacks. Jayden Frasier was especially locked on to Socorro's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Eastlake lost to Franklin on the road by a 70-54 margin on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on October 9th (49), the Falcons still had to take the loss.
Pebble Hills will need to focus on slowing down Jordan Reveles, one of several Eastlake players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 101 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Ethan Rivera did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 57 receiving yards.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Eastlake, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rivera, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Pebble Hills' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Eastlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pebble Hills has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Eastlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 216.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pebble Hills couldn't quite get it done against Eastlake in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 28-20. Thankfully for the Spartans, Luke Lomeli (who rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 113 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
