Recap: Beatrice Orangemen vs. Northwest Vikings
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln Christian, the Beatrice Orangemen were happy to have found some success on Friday. They strolled past Northwest with points to spare, taking the game 63-46. Given Beatrice's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Northwest is ranked 78th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Northwest saw an underclassman step up: Laiken Dorsey scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Haylee Brandt, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Beatrice's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. As for Northwest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.
Beatrice will head out on the road to face off against Waverly on Thursday. As for Northwest, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-41 defeat vs. North Platte on the 12th.
