Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Marysville

Marysville extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-5 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Utica Chieftains a 3-0 shutout. The Vikings' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.

As for Utica, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Utica's part, Violet Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Utica saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gaby Vitale, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Marysville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chieftains: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
