Recap: Elite Prep Academy Eagles vs. Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks

If the Elite Prep Academy Eagles were feeling good off their 49-27 takedown of the Eastland Christian Hurricanes on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Elite Prep Academy took a hard 54-39 fall against Cornerstone Charter Academy on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elite Prep Academy has scored all season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jahmani Salomon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Salomon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Deontae Givens-West, who scored 11 points along with four steals.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Lebron led the charge by scoring 18 points. Lebron continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Omar Vincent was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Elite Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Elite Prep Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Circle Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 18, 2024. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Legacy Charter at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Legacy Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
