Soccer Game Preview: Clewiston vs. Bishop Verot

The Clewiston Tigers will take on the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clewiston's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Clewiston's offense. They lost 8-0 to Sarasota on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Sailors are ranked 206th).

Meanwhile, Bishop Verot hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Cardinal Mooney. With the Vikings ahead 4-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Bishop Verot is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-0-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those ten matchups. As for Clewiston, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1.

Clewiston beat Bishop Verot 3-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clewiston since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
