Volleyball Recap: Pomperaug's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After a string of four wins, Pomperaug's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shelton Gaels. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Gaels when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Pomperaug had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 25-18.

Rylen Brennan paced Pomperaug's offense, picking up 16 kills. Brennan got some help from Tripp Latta and his 34 assists. Yago Torres controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Pomperaug's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Shelton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Pomperaug didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Wolcott RVT on the 24th. As for Shelton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Brookfield on the 25th.
