Softball Recap: Pompano Beach Comes Up Short

Pompano Beach managed to slip by Westminster Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes came up short against the Westminster Academy Lions on Thursday, falling 8-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Golden Tornadoes were not able to get on the board.

The loss snapped Pompano Beach's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Westminster Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pompano Beach will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Spanish River at 6:30 p.m. on April 1st. Spanish River's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Pompano Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westminster Academy, they will head out to take on Cardinal Gibbons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Gibbons will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Westminster Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
