Football Recap: Fairport Comes Up Short

Fairport fell victim to Rush-Henrietta and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royal Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Raiders of the 42-21 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rush-Henrietta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Imani Wagstaff, who rushed for 149 yards. Wagstaff's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 149 rushing yards. Evan Mangone was another key passer, throwing for 117 yards and one TD while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Fairport has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Rush-Henrietta, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairport will square off against Penfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rush-Henrietta, they will challenge Greece Olympia/Greece Odyssey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rush-Henrietta will be up against Greece Olympia/Greece Odyssey's rather soft defense (which has allowed 43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
