Preview: Victoria West Warriors vs. Southside Cardinals
The Victoria West Warriors will face off against the Southside Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Victoria West is ranked 593rd, while Southside is ranked 605th).
Last Friday, Victoria West ended up a good deal behind Victoria East and lost 42-24. Victoria West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Victoria West's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kamauri Montgomery, who rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Montgomery has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Camden Repper, who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Southside entered their tilt with Winn with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Southside breezed by Winn on the road to the tune of 41-0. The result was nothing new for Southside, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Cayden Keeth and Jeremy Obregon were among the main playmakers for Southside as the former threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns and the latter picked up 101 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Victoria East's win bumped their season record to 7-3 while Victoria West's defeat dropped theirs to 4-6.
